Fleet 7 was proud to have Big Hungry Bear chartered for the 2006 North American Championship in Annapolis. Tom Stout of S&S Mobile Marinas, Brad Kauffman and the crew of Schock Therapy not only got Big Hungry Bear on the line, but sailed her competitively throughout the regatta. After the great showing in its debut regatta on the Chesapeake Bay, Fleet 7 announced that Big Hungry Bear was for sale to a local racer.
During the off-season Stephanie Reuer decided to join a growing one design fleet and purchased Big Hungry Bear. Stephanie renamed her boat Dakota Girl and moved her to Jabins Yacht Yard. Dakota Girl has ventured out for a few events this year, but is hoping to join Fleet 7 in force for the 2008 season.
Now is the time to start thinking about the 2008 North American Championship regatta being held in Detroit from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21. Ground transportation versus chartering is the big question...
The organizers in Detroit are working hard to put together another great regatta and will provide more details in the coming months. Check back here and on the J/35 Class Association site for more information as it becomes available.
